Exhibition
Hermann Hesse lived in Montagnola for over 43 years, at first in the Casa Camuzzi and then in the Casa Rossa, situated in the outskirt of the village. He expressed his love for the Ticinese landscape in thousands of watercolours, reflections, and poems. In the last part of his life, working in the garden and in his vineyard represented for Hesse a source of constant inspiration. On the basis of the exhibition held at Fattoria Moncucchetto in 2015, the relationship between Hermann Hesse and the landscape, garden and the wine will be illustrated. In collaboration with Fattoria Moncucchetto.
Opening: Friday, 16 September, 18.30

From the end of the 1950s to the middle of the 1970s, million of books by Hesse were sold in the United States. Young people, in particular, who felt the loss of religious and family values, searched and found in Hesse’s work advice and help. The beat generation, the hippies, the psychedelic movement and the anti-Vietnam protest, produced a rethinking and a value change, which were also influenced by Hesse’s books. His works also had an impact on rock music, films, and visual arts.
Opening: 26 March, 18.30Before the opening, at 16.30, Prof. Dr. Andreas Meier (Wuppertal University) will hold a lecture.
